Straegic Planning Workshop

Thank you all for the active participation in the workshop. I am quite sure what was mentioned and discussed were a mere tip of the iceberg. I don’t believe that we have truly solved any problems but identified some that all of us believed are important and possible approaches in tackling them..

It is not easy to voice out the truth when the ‘boss’ is around and this is exactly the point. I, and the rest of the Commission, don’t want to be the boss. We want to know the problems you are facing and help solving them. If there was any thing that was achieved, I hope all of you believe that we care with all our heart the future of the Commission and the precious work that you are all participating in.

The problems that made the biggest impression on me were the importance of training, the lack of support, the complexity of paper work and of course the lack of resources.

The Commission is moving towards the development of a training centre though our pace is slightly slow and the road is bumpy. We are constantly reviewing the current structure and are open for ideas. As for administrative/paper work, I assure you that this is the closest thing to my heart. The reason being that we are unlikely to get a significant rise in the funding and thus no increase in staff head count. Reducing administrative/paper work and thus increasing your time for visiting patients and parish communications are of far greater importance.

I believe in building on solid ground. Your experience in the field is the solid ground that we plan the future. You are our greatest asset. We’ll consolidate the data we obtained in the workshop and give you all a copy unaltered. Read it and think it over. Tell us what you think and let us build the Commission’s future together.
